With Autumn just around the corner it is nearly the third Anniversary of Fossil Flip Thursday. Instagram has been a showcase in recent years for some outstanding fossil specimens. Some ammonites for example may be rough looking on one side, but when flipped over to reveal the other side they look exceptionally beautiful. Fossil Flip Thursday has seen some excellent videos of fossils, with many participants especially showing off their ammonite specimens on the day. I hope there will be a really large turn out to flip their fossils on the 22nd October 2020.In these unprecedented times at least one thing is for sure a lot of people will be flipping their fossils in the next weeks a head .Its always such a fun opportunity to show off fossils that you have found and prepared.

At the end of July 2020 Luke and I found a beautiful ammonite along the Jurassic Coast. Going out fossil collecting safely at low tide got us this specimen of Asteroceras Obtusum !

We are back in our old shop in Lyme Regis at 7 Drake`s Way ,Lyme Regis DT7 3QP.Its been 20 years since we were last in this fossil workshop. Its that time of year again when big seas ravage the Jurassic Coast! Gale force winds drive the waves in against the cliffs,mudslides and mudslips.Fossil material is washed out onto the beaches to be saved before being taken away for ever by the sea and destroyed.You need to be dressed well for the stormy weather.The best tools are your eyes looking along the beach painstakingly searching for fossils.The best time to look for fossils is at low tide -keep away from the dangerous cliffs.If you have taken a hammer with you and know what your looking for ,then safety spectacles and sturdy gloves are recommended.See our YouTube video below to look at the fossil finds from the storm!Jurassic Coast Fossil Finding is the video name, and these fossils were saved!
